Most Embarrassing Track Moments Part 1!

Here are some of my favorites in no particular order!

1) I was running the 4×200 on race day and I was really tired from past events. I was first leg and our second leg was wearing our red jersey and had blonde hair. The girl in the lane next to her also had a red jersey and blonde hair. I actually went out of my lane to hand her our baton.. We were in front of their team and she took off with it. We got disqualified but they ended up getting second place! I didn’t even realize it wasn’t my teammate until she came running up to me screaming.

2) Warming up for the vault at a big meet with all the girl vaulters watching. I decided to hold at the top and get a sick bend and look good.. Couldn’t have had the more perfect plant and bend.. All of a sudden, *crack*.. Next thing I know I’m at the trainers room.. Came back out and everybody was laughing..

3) My freshman year of track in high school, in our Regionals meet I was running the 100 hurdles and was so intensely in the zone that I heard the gun go off, took off, and didn’t even notice when they fired the gun again to signal that someone had false started.  All the other girls stopped before they reached the first hurdle but I ran the entire race without realizing that no one else was running with me.  Actually, since I couldn’t see anyone around me I just thought I was winning!  And not only did I not hear the gun, I also didn’t hear EVERYONE in the stands yelling “Stop!  Stop!” the whole time I was running the race.  It was only once I crossed the finish line and turned around to see that there wasn’t a single person there with me that I realized something was wrong.  I still remember one of the officials timing the race trying not to laugh at me as she told me to shake it off and walk back to the finish line to run the race for real

4) I had just finished running the 400 and I turned to say good job to the girl in the lane next to me and she looked at me like I had 2 heads and said I had something in my teeth. I tried to just play it off so I replied with “yeah I know” and walked off the track. in between my two front teeth was a dead fly
